Pasadena Civic

300 East Green Street
Pasadena 91101

The renowned 3,000 seat Pasadena Civic Auditorium was built in 1931 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  The Pasadena Civic is home to the People’s Choice Awards and Pasadena Symphony.  The theatre also hosts musicals, world-class ballet and other cultural events year-round.  The building underwent a $1.3 million renovation in 1997, returning it to its original grandeur.

The five-manual twenty-eight rank Möller theatre organ now housed in the Pasadena Civic Auditorium was originally designed as a touring organ.  British organist Reginal Foort used a caravan of five trucks to move his Gigantic Touring Organ to venues throughout England in the years before World War II. The organ was installed in London and then the Netherlands before reaching its present home. In 1980, the Moller made its debut in the 3,000 seat Pasadena Civic Auditorium.  It is reported that the sound of the organ at the Pasadena dedication brought Mr. Foort to tears less than a month before his death.
