Lillian Gish gives one of silent cinema’s most haunting performances in this masterpiece set on the unforgiving plains of the American West. As the relentless wind howls across the screen, Gish's heroine battles her inner demons in a role that was personally meaningful to her. In fact, it was her idea to adapt this film from the novel. With powerful visuals, The Wind was one of the last great silent films.
