We Need your Help!

The Los Angeles Theatre Organ Society (LATOS) is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) all-volunteer organization with a mission to preserve, restore, maintain, and promote the theatre organ music, instruments, and culture.

Donations go to supporting our programming and maintaining our instruments.

You don’t have to be an expert to provide valuable support.  Whatever time you can contribute is much needed (no matter how much or little time you can spare).  The following are just a few ways you can help:

VOLUNTEER AT EVENTS & CONCERTS:

LATOS sponsors concerts, special events, open console sessions and other exciting activities throughout the year.  LATOS would be very grateful if you could volunteer to help at even one of these events each year.  Volunteers who help at an event get free admission to the event, and the satisfaction of having been an important part of the event.  It is also a wonderful way to network and meet other LATOS members.  Roles can include handing out programs, greeting guests, helping in the box office, working at the artist’s media table, and more.  If you are interested in volunteering at a LATOS event, please contact us, see below.

CREATIVE:

LATOS is always looking for people with skills in writing, Word (or similar) text editing applications, graphics, photography and more for its ongoing production of The Organ Log newsletter, concert programs, content that is posted on this website, brochures and other creative items.  Also, article/photo contributions for The Organ Log newsletter are always appreciated.  If you would be interested in helping with the creative aspects of LATOS, please contact us, see below.

ORGAN CREW:

LATOS currently maintains four of its own theatre organs in Los Angeles county.  Here is your chance to see how these magnificent musical instruments work if a call goes out for assistance when an organ is being updated, repaired, tuned, etc.  If you have any experience working on pipe organs, your talent would be much appreciated.  If you haven’t worked on a pipe organ before, but have even basic skills in such areas as electrical, use of hardware (tools), computers, etc., your skills could be very beneficial.  If you are interested in volunteering on an organ crew, please contact us, see below.

FINANCIAL:

Financial contributions are key and essential to the growth, health and success of the Los Angeles Theatre Organ Society (LATOS).  LATOS restores and maintains theatre pipe organs within its territory through volunteer and physical upkeep of its instruments. Since most of the instruments are over 80 years old, one can well understand the need for constant maintenance.  Concerts, special events, open console events and more are typically run on an at-cost basis to make them available to the largest possible audience.  And efforts to promote the increasingly rare theatre pipe organ to the community and youth are not without cost.

You can help us to continue these efforts and achieve our goal to keep this true American art form alive. The Los Angeles Theatre Organ Society, Inc. (aka “LATOS”) is a non-profit California Public Corporation within the framework of Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code and Section 23701d of the California Revenue and Taxation Code.  Our IRS Employer Identification Number is: 23-7253558.
